The Arab Council for Social Responsibility awards Suez Canal Bank the “Charity Medal for Initiatives” in Cooperation with Misr El Kheir Foundation Recognizing its roles in Sustainable Education

As part of its keenness to support development and community initiatives, Suez Canal Bank was honored with the “Charity Medal for Initiatives” competition in its third edition (2025/2026), organized by The Arab Council for Social Responsibility in cooperation with Misr El Kheir Foundation, in recognition of the Bank’s contributions to supporting sustainable education initiatives and enhancing access to underserved segments.

The event witnessed the honoring of a number of prominent figures in the field of community and development work. Ms. Nour Elzeny, Head of Financial Inclusion, Corporate Communication, and CSR at Suez Canal Bank, received the “Ambassador of Charitable Endowment for Sustainable Education” shield. The award was presented by Dr. Randa Rizk, Secretary General of The Arab Council for Social Responsibility, and Dr. Ali Gomaa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Misr El Kheir Foundation.

This recognition comes as part of a series of awards received by the Bank in the field of corporate social responsibility, reflecting its ongoing efforts to support community development initiatives, in line with the directives of the Central Bank of Egypt, Egypt Vision 2030, and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The “Charity Medal for Initiativescompetition is one of the developmental initiatives at the level of the Arab world, whichaims to discover and adopt initiatives across various fields, including community and voluntary initiatives, scientific and technological innovations, cultural and artistic initiatives, as well as initiatives concerned with special needs, environment, and renewable energy, in a way that contributes to achieving a developmental and feasible impact.

The competition follows an integrated methodology that starts with announcing the call for submissions, followed by standardized evaluation processes, and concludes with open discussions and the selection of winners through judging panels that include experts and specialists from various fields.

Commenting on the award, Ms. Nour Elzeny stated that the “Charity Medal for Initiatives” recognizes Suez Canal Bank’s efforts in supporting sustainable education, noting that investment in education is a key pillar of achieving sustainable development. She added the that the Bank is keen to contribute to contributing to initiatives that provide education and training opportunities for underserved groups, as well as participating in events and workshops targeting youth to enhance their capabilities and contributions to the labor market. She explained that these initiatives fall under the auspices of the Central Department for Social Responsibility at the Central Bank of Egypt.

Dr. Randa Rizk stated that the Charity Medal competition serves as an Arab platform to discover and adopt development initiatives, as we are keen to support feasible ideas that have an impact on society, through evaluation mechanisms that rely on different criteria. The honoring of the Suez Canal Bank came in celebration of its role in supporting impactful community initiatives.

Key Contributions of Suez Canal Bank in the Field of Education:

Development of two schools in cooperation with Ismailia Governorate, including buildings, playgrounds, and computer equipment.
Sponsorship of 64 scholarships for students at Zewail City of Science and Technology from different governorates over five years (2019–2023), in fields such as physics, earth sciences, nanotechnology, and biomedical sciences.
Contribution to distributing school uniforms and bags to 500 students across 14 schools in Assiut (Atamna – Al Eziah – Ghahdam – Komboha villages) in cooperation with the Egyptian Clothing Bank.
Donation to Hayah Karima Foundation under the “Back to my School” initiative to distribute school supplies to 1,500 primary school students in 30 public schools in Menoufia.
Cooperation with the Egyptian Food Bank to provide daily school meals for 200 students during the academic year in Sharwida village, Zagazig, Sharkia, as part of efforts to combat malnutrition.
Participation in the “Future Scholar” launched by the Central Bank of Egypt in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Key Contributions in Training and Employment:

Donation to Omnia Misr for Development (Phase 2) to support thousands of underserved families, including youth with deaf and female breadwinners, by providing 7 production machines for leather, textile, and wood products in Giza and Fayoum.
Donation to El Masry Foundation for Development and Education (Phase 2) to implement a tailoring project for 10 indebted women in Minya, ensuring sustainable income.
Donation to Sona3 El Kheir Foundation under the “Sekket Rizk” initiative, including providing 55 transportation means (motorcycles, scooters, bicycles) to support 55 young beneficiaries from care homes, along with financial inclusion awareness sessions and employment contracts with Talabat, in addition to depositing a symbolic financial support of EGP 2000 into the account of each beneficiary.
Donation to Sona3 El Kheir Foundation under the “Fishing Boats Initiative” to provide 50 boats with fishing equipment for 100 fishermen in Suez.

Key Contributions in Entrepreneurship and Youth Empowerment:

Participation in the “NilePreneurs” initiative launched by the Central Bank of Egypt in cooperation with Nile University for five years, graduating 51 startups from the Bank’s “Launch SaaS” incubator.
Participation in the Centennial Festival of the School of Continuing Education at the American University in Cairo, including a youth awareness session on work-life balance.
Participation in the graduation ceremony of the “She Can 2025” program at AUC, graduating around 120 women in entrepreneurship and ICT fields. The bank’s financial inclusion team participated in the event to provide financial awareness to the students and graduates of the program.
Delivering an awareness session on CSR within the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership, attended by 150 youth from 80 countries.
Sponsorship in Careerha Summit 2025 and participating inCareerha Summit 2026 to support women’s economic empowerment and entrepreneurship, and Financial Inclusion.

Key Contributions in Internal Communication:

Encouraging employees to participate in the “My Book… My Gift” initiative under the Central Bank of Egypt in cooperation with the Egyptian Clothing Bank, to donate educational and cultural books for distribution in underserved areas.
Organizing a “Back to School Bazaar” in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, as part of the “Al Tamkin Khatwa” initiative to support handicrafts and small business owners.
Organizing a book and school supplies exhibition in cooperation with Dar Al Maaref for employees.
