H.E. Mrs. Nada El Agizy Participates in AlBaraka Forum for Islamic Economy in Türkiye

The AlBaraka Forum for Islamic Economy opened its first day yesterday in Türkiye, convening an influential gathering of policymakers, financial institutions, investors, and sector leaders in a landmark dialogue on the future of Islamic finance, sustainable development, and the real economy. The Forum stands as one of the most prominent international platforms at the intersection of ethical finance and inclusive development.

Among the distinguished participants representing Arab institutional leadership was H.E. Minister Plenipotentiary Mrs. Nada El Agizy, Director of the Department for Sustainable Development and International Cooperation, League of Arab States – General Secretariat. Her presence at this high-level forum carried significant institutional weight, reflecting the League’s continued commitment to engaging proactively with international platforms that shape the global development and finance agenda.

“Finance is no longer merely a traditional economic instrument — it has become a primary driver of development, especially when linked to sustainability, equity, and the real economy.”

A central focus of H.E. Mrs. El Agizy’s participation was the exploration of strengthening the partnership between the League of Arab States and the AlBaraka Forum, formalized through a signed MOU — a strategic alignment with meaningful implications for Arab regional priorities. This partnership is set to support the Arab Sustainable Development Week agenda, while also advancing the goals of Arab Vision 2045 — the region’s long-term framework for an integrated and prosperous Arab future.

In remarks delivered on the sidelines of the Forum, H.E. Mrs. El Agizy underscored the vital role that innovative Islamic finance instruments can play in addressing the development challenges confronting the Arab region — particularly in the context of mounting debt pressures and constrained fiscal spaces. Islamic financial tools, including sukuk and sustainability-linked instruments, offer principled pathways to mobilize resources and generate tangible social and developmental impact at scale.

The League of Arab States’ participation in AlBaraka Forum reflects a deliberate and forward-looking institutional strategy: to position the Arab region as an active contributor to global conversations on sustainable finance, to forge meaningful partnerships across institutional boundaries, and to translate regional aspirations into actionable frameworks with international resonance. This participation connects three highly influential domains — Islamic economy, sustainable finance, and shared Arab development — into one coherent institutional dialogue.

H.E. Mrs. El Agizy’s engagement sends a clear message: the Arab region possesses the vision, expertise, and institutional readiness to actively shape the future of development finance — particularly when finance is placed in the service of people, communities, and long-term sustainability.

As the Forum’s proceedings unfold over the coming days, this participation is expected to lay the groundwork for concrete areas of collaboration that serve the sustainable development goals of the Arab region and reinforce the standing of Islamic finance as a cornerstone of international development financing.
